Top Tips for your Home Renovation

Renovating can be a little scary! How much will it cost? How long will it take? Where do I start?
Here are my 5 top tips for getting started with your home renovation.
1. Look for good quality trades that are familiar with the work type.
Engaging in qualified trades that know their stuff is the most important thing. Don't forget that the cost of a trade is not only in their hours worked or their materials. It comes with years of learning and knowing how to do something right so that it lasts you for many years to come, and most importantly - it looks great!
2. Ask lots of questions!
Our trades are here to help and we want to ensure that all your renovation dreams come true. Ask lots of questions to make sure you are getting exactly what you want. A good trade will let you know if something is not possible or not functional and will come up with options until you are happy with the result of your renovation plan. Made Right Building prides themselves on high quality customer service!
3. Work out your budget before you start
By working out your renovation budget before you get started, you can reverse engineer what is possible and within your budget.
Budget blow outs can happen due to unforeseen circumstances throughout your build, i.e. unknown termite damage, or damage to structures behind your walls that cannot be seen until the work is commenced.
Our team will ensure to navigate this with you and ensure a high level of communication throughout the works to ensure you are fully of aware of all costs involved throughout the renovation or build!
4. Mood board your style
Use platforms like Pinterest or Style Sourcebook to get inspired for your renovation. A picture is a thousand words when communicating your desired result to your builder. Compile a stack of photos with your favourite design ideas and we will work with you and our trades to get the exact finish you want!
5. Timing is everything!
Plan your renovation early. Trying to cram it in before a busy family Christmas only makes it more stressful! Take lead cut off times, work, and holidays into account when planning your renovation. Our team will guide you through the process and advise how long it should take until completion.
